The Federal, state and local pension programs are all way out of line. Once they were given because government salaries were below the private sector, that day is gone. I have worked in private for all of my career, I have no guaranteed pension, only 401K (which took 50%hit 3 years ago) and social security, which the government has robbed and wants to end. Now you are telling me that I have to pay for someones pension when I have none, further, the governement people have missmanaged the programs and want me to make up the difference.
As far as I am concerned, let the debt go and reduce the pensions paid by the amount of the debt and distribute that equally. This does not address the medical benfits given for life that the private sector also pays for
Drop all of the tax payer supported pensions and let all government workers make a go of it like the rest of us. We might even get more work out of them when they find their future is not guaranteed.
