Public Review Set To Begin For San Diego Trolley Extension Project

Riding the train is so much easier and more comfortable than air travel. And when you reach your destination, you just walk out of the train station and you are there. When I travel by plane, I normally spend much more time getting to the airport early and trying to get from the airport to my final destination.

Good public transportation makes even more sense for a city like San Diego that promotes tourism. The Coaster and the trolley are two of San Diego's best and most undervalued attractions.

High-Skilled Visa Requests Likely To Exceed Supply

I worked in telecommunications R&D for many years and there were times when we could not hire people fast enough. We always had a large pool of job candidates. When the visa quota was reached, our company, like all the rest, simply relied on workers who did not need a visa. We went on hiring and we found workers who were just as qualified and were just as good. But we didn't have anybody who needed a visa in the pool of candidates when the quota was used up. Companies had to offer more money to get the experienced candidates they wanted.

Businesses say they need these visas to get the best and the brightest but that simply is not true. Companies like these visa programs because it allows them to lower their labor costs because foreign workers are willing to work for lower wages.

With unemployment so high in this country, we should not be creating more visas to bring in people from another country to work here in the U.S. This request for more visas is a sign the economy is improving. Creating more visas will be a sign Congress is once again selling out American workers.

Liberal Label Gives Way To Progress(ive)

It is stories like this that keeps me tuned to KPBS. Mr. Fudge is no Geoffrey Nunberg (http://www.npr.org/templates/archives...) but he is on the right path.

Counting Bike Trips Could Get More People To Pedal

I ride my bike on the sidewalk when I can because I want to avoid the added risk of riding with cars. Most drivers do OK with cyclists but it only takes 1 driver trying to text while driving to ruin a nice ride. The sidewalk where I ride is usually empty anyway.

San Diego Seeks A Swifter Current For Water Recycling

It makes more sense to recycle greywater before going for backwater. San Diego can do much more with conservation and greywater recycling. There is a good reason the toilet to tap approach is such a hard sell. There are much better alternatives.

U-T San Diego's Mayoral Poll Skewed Republican

U-T San Diego was caught again with dishonest spin being presented as news.

All the evidence clearly indicates the owner simply uses the U-T as a propaganda tool. This distorted political poll is simply the latest example. The U-T owner tries to promote his supporters and his projects. It's not a surprise that he's using his paper to promote his projects. The real surprise is that so many people still think the U-T is a newspaper. But as the cancellations show, a lot of people are waking up.

Filner Edges DeMaio In San Diego Mayor's Race

It was so nice to wake up and find the Manchesterian candidate was rejected. I am glad the voters are tired of seeing developers have their way with our city.

Lightner Lashes Out Against Ellis Campaign's Claims

Ellis's so called direct mail company, which the rest of us call spam or junk mail, makes money from spamming. So it is only natural that he would carry his skill at mass producing garbage into his campaign.
