KPBS General Manager Answers Public's Questions

Perhaps instead of classical music all night long there could at least be a mix of music. There are plenty of musical selections (besides classical music) that don’t get played very often on commercial radio. Can we at least have an eclectic blend of some music from across the world if there’s going to be music playing all night instead of news and talk?

I’d like to hear talk radio brought back to KPBS at night but if that’s not going to happen I’d like to at least hear a little musical diversity?

I completely agree with the last caller. The classical music that plays all night on KPBS is terrible.

KPBS: Where News Matters… There is currently 7 hours a day of nonstop classical music. That’s almost 1/3 of the total programming. Perhaps the tagline should be KPBS: Where News and Classical Music Matters.

How about some news & talk at night for people who can’t listen during the day? How about some program that’s stimulates thought? I still miss the BBC which used to play every night.

I was disappointed to hear Mr. Karlo's response because he makes it sound like there’s no hope to get rid of the classical music until they buy a new radio station. He makes it sound like it going to be a couple years from now.

Who out there loves the nonstop classical music all night and supports KPBS radio because they like to hear 7 hours of classical music? Are there a large number of graveyard shift workers who listen to classical music to help them stay awake? Please take a poll. I think if you ask people why they listen to KPBS they will say it’s for the news and talk not the relentless classical music.
