One Book, One San Diego: FAQs & Selection Criteria

Book considerations for next year:
The Language of Flowers - Vanessa Defenbaugh
A Delicate Truth - John Le Carre
The Weird Sisters - Eleanor Brown
The Botany of Desire - Michael Pollan

You might want to check out World Book Night which takes place on April 24th every year. It is an amazing project.

KPBS Strengthens News Service

So far, so good.
Now, is there anything you can do to get BBC World News to broadcast a full 60 minutes (6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) on TV. The shorter broadcast just doesn't do it. I know KPBS used to broadcast the full 60 minutes. Do you think you can bring it back!!! Please, please, please!
Many thanks in advance ...

Looks like some very interesting changes coming.
My suggestions: adding more Alison St.John to anything (perhaps as moderator for Editor's Roundtable); she's great.
More Tony Perry to appear as a guest on any local news panel shows. They are true local shining stars.
Bring back the California Report (full hour).
Add as much BBC World News that your budget will allow! Not necessarily the call-in shows, but just more of what they do so exceedingly well.
These Days has always been a hard show for me to follow for various reasons, including the interviewer who never seems to have done her homework and, most infuriating, when there is a really interesting, topical topic, the show devotes perhaps 15-17 minutes and there's clearly a huge queue of callers, and it's clear she's in over her head ...
Here & Now and The World are terrific.
I think, all in all, it's going to an interesting experiment!
