Film Club of the Air: Best and Worst of 2010

"Every movie should be watched in a movie theater" Scott, I completely agree. In a perfect world, I'd be right there with some really expensive popcorn in one hand and supersized drink in other. However, circumstance just won't allow it. So after listening to you, Beth and Anders, I just added Mother, Exit Through the Giftshop, 44 Inch Chest and I Am Love to my Netflix queue. I'll be enjoying a movie watching marathon for less with a glass of wine.

Firing Juan

Firing JW was the right thing to do. He expressed a bias on an issue and clearly NPR couldn't stand by him. As a listener I would have had a hard time listening to any of his analysis and taken it at face value. However, I agree that the matter could have been handled with a lot more finesse.

Why All The Vampires?

I was never really a fan of vampire lore. Then I saw the Swedish movie "Let the Right One In". What I find refreshing is that the vampire is a "young" girl who befriends a socially awkward boy who is bullied at school.

It's an interesting dynamic and seems to follow a pattern of the vampire as hero, even though he/she is a bloodthirsty monster who is ruled by pure hunting instinct.

Critics Pick Top Ten Must Reads For The Fall

I always enjoy the segment, especially the recommendations from independent bookstore owners. However, I'm a bit disappointed that the YA and children's market haven't been spotlighted.
