I believe this was intended as a discussion of a sometimes emotional issue and not a lecture on the evils of declawing, so I am glad the moderator stepped in with their very sound comments. I find it suspicious if someone is "glad (their opponent didn't show up because their arguments are silly)" and therefore now take Dr Conrad's opinions with a grain of salt. I am well aware of many pros and cons of this issue. I have always had declawed cats and have not yet ever experienced any biting, litter box or behavior issues associated with it. My difficulty lies in that I do feel it is cruel to declaw a large adult cat, but a young kitten doesn't seem to skip a day over it - so that maybe where some people fall into that 8 month decision difficulty?
