Tom Fudge is usually a well-prepared and skilled interviewer, but this time he was so bad that I had to turn it off in embarrassment.
Tom was "amazed" that the interviewee's father had not felt the earthquake in Okinawa. Huh? That would be like being shocked at a Hawai'i resident not feeling a California earthquake.
Other questions posed in the interview also showed a complete lack of preparation or, frankly, any knowledge of Japan or its geography. I fear this only reinforced the image of Americans knowing absolutely nothing of other countries.
