Last November I took an AMTRAK train from Washington DC to New Orleans. All of the sleeping compartments, including the ones for two people had private toilets and sink-s. This was very unusual since there were no public restrooms jn the cars. Most people traveling together had one person step out into the hall while the other person used the facility. I googled and found some information that the trains were designed in Germany with specifications from the rail line that served the south at that time. Civil rights legislation would allow african americans to travel in the private cars. The whites did not want to share the restroom facilities so each compartment was given a private toilet. Do you know anything about this? kathe robbins from san marcoscan you email me a response if you don't discuss this now. firstname.lastname@example.org thanks
