Immunized People Getting Whooping Cough, Experts Spar Over New Strain

The movie 'Raising Arizona' raised my awareness about the 'DTaP' (Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) I had to look it up after seeing this scene: "What if the baby gets sick, honey? Even if he don't, he's gotta have his dip-tet. He's gotta have his dip-tet, honey... "or they develop lockjaw and night vision."
Factually incorrect, but hilariously informative.

Naked Bikers File Suit To Overturn San Diego's Anti-Nude Ordinance

My forefathers and foremothers didn't escape religious/moral persecution to create a new land of moral and religious persecution just to have me flaunt my birthday suit... Even if I'm behind closed (clothed) doors I place myself under citizens arrest if I change clothes near a reflective surface... Eeek!

Ending 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

Seems like the heart of the issue is the showering - the IDEA of someone you find completely unattractive appraising you sexually.
Yes, feeling like a piece of meat is a horrible degrading feeling, but girls over the age of 11 or 12 deal with it every time they leave the house, I'm sure the warriors can find a way to cope.

Is Bottled Water Any Better Than Tap Water?

Mr. Doss repeatedly reminded listeners that many types of food and drink are packaged in plastic, not just water. Wow. That’s a scary thought. Maybe bottled water has been unfairly singled out. Perhaps the use of plastics in food production should be re-examined entirely. I almost don't want to think about it.

Was this thought process what Mr. Doss intended?

Take a step back though, and consider if Mr Doss’s statement is correct. We should group all plastic packaged food together equally if we can justify the energy, resources and toxins involved in the creation, distribution and recycling of plastic packaging equally. So are they all equally consumed and available?

Rate of Consumption:
It is possible that I have, in one day consumed 2 - 4 bottles of water and although less likely, I may have consumed 2 - 4 bottles of soda /juice in one day, but I can guarantee I never drank 2 - 4 bottles of vegetable oil, ketchup, syrup, vinegar or salad dressing.

I don't know about Mr. Doss' home, but my faucet does not dispense juice, soda, syrup, smoothies, ranch dressing or bbq sauce, but it does dispense safe, low-cost drinking water courtesy of municipal services.

This is a simplistic example, and could be worded a bit better, but what about my general idea?

Local Muslim Community Discusses Life After 9/11

On 9/11, I was worried about my sister living in NYC, but when the evening news aired stories of Muslim hate-crimes here in San Diego I became concerned for the safety of Muslims in my community - conservative, old fashioned Poway.

I live near the Muslim center on Poway road, so I wrote a note of support, picked some white roses from my garden and drove over to the to drop them off, but when I pulled up in front of the center I saw that many other people had left notes, cards and flowers. It was beautiful, but humbling. The same things that may have motivated the hate crimes: false assumptions, ignorance, stereotyping, had motivated my act of kindness. Communities are NOT groups of like-minded individuals, they are groups of individuals, and each person represents only themselves.
