Sweetwater District Board Member Pearl Quinones Pleads Guilty In Corruption Case

I had a small computer business in Chula Vista, and bid on selling multiple computer systems to Southwestern College. I worked through one of the professors in submitting my bid. I had the lowest bid by over $100 dollars. I never got the contract I never expected to get it. They seem to have had some type of arrangement with the other computer supplier at the time. Corruption is all around. It's too bad as a small businessman those multiple sales can make a big difference if you can make it in business or not.

Is Overemphasis On Testing Hurting Schools?

I believe what is hurting our schools is overemphasis on teachers. I am not an educator an I would like to put out a challenge to any teacher or group.

Bring me a recorded lecture of the any teacher in america on any subject and I will better the lecture. Then I would record what I do and make it available to every student in the country, regardless of location or social status, private or public school.

My point is we already have the ability and resources to aproach education along these lines. Bush said no child left behind, perhaps Bush felt he had been left behind. I say no child held behind, because of other students or lack of quality teachers. Every child in America could have a first rate education available to them if we took all the best lectures and made them multimedia. And then made them available on the web or through dvd's

Activists Say Immigrant's Death Demonstrates Need For Immigration Reform

I feel bad for this person who died. Our system is broken. We need to make a statement that we intend to repair it and send back all illegals to their country of origin. Then the message will be if you want to come here do it legaly.

Proposition 13: A Look Back

Who says that we should have to pay taxes year after year for property. Then have the taxes go up every year. Then if a bunch of fools deceid that houses are all of a sudden a great investment and everyones home should cost 500+ thousand dollars, my taxes go up even more .

I think the real issue is controling costs. If you work for the state or city do you deserve a lifelong retierment plan that can be higher than what even your normal paycheck would have been? Should we pay underperforming teachers higher and higher wages for pumping out hardley literate kids. This country was great and strong when sales tax was 5 percent. Why are things worse with 8.75. I have never seen so many potholes anywhere in the world as we have here in San Diego. Fill my potholes, deliver water and electricty, put out my fires, and service my sewers. Do these things right, before you start with all of the charity programs out there.

Nothing is working. cut cost don't raise taxes. Get down to basics. Get people back to work, not welfare and disablity, catch the cheaters. No insurance? no medicine. Make personal medical insurance mandatory, I have to have car insurance why not medical. Last and certainly not least if your in this country illegaly and your not tending the crops then you stealing someone elses job and probably not paying taxes, registration or insurance and any child you have while here should not be considered an automatic citizen. Besides who says we should subsidize farms with so called cheap labor, have you looked at the price on fruit lately. If it takes $40 an hour to hire an american to work the fields then pay it, it's a lot cheaper than having to print everything in Eglish and Spanish. Then that person can pay for his own medical. He can contribute to taxes and his kids wont need a free lunch in school.

Well that felt good to rant.
