Richard Nares Hispanic Heritage Month I'm Pierre Habis of Union Bank. Diversity if one of our most closely held values. This is why we're proud to honor local heroes in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Let's meet one of our honorees. My name is Richard Nares, Executive Director of the Emilio Nares Foundation. After we lost our son to cancer my wife and I wanted to give back. I just think back on what it was like to be here as a parent and how I could have used somebody to navigate the system. One of our programs is called "Ride With Emilio" and it's a transportation program. Our families are low income so to get to the hospital becomes a very big chore. And the van makes sure they get here on time every time. The sewing and knitting program turned into more of a therapy group. We found a really nice atmosphere and a support group just grew. Emilio is my inspiration daily. He was a child when he passed away but he just inspires me to help these kids. This moment has been made possible by Union Bank in partnership with KPBS.
