I'm Pierre Habis with Union Bank. Diversity is one of our most closely held values. This is why we're proud to honor local heroes in celebration of Disability Awareness Month. My name is Pamela Finkel and I'm a retired professor from San Diego City College. I became a counselor because people feel that I can listen to them and that when they talk to me they are being listened to. I've always been disabled. Society saw me as very severely disabled and I didn't view myself like that. So it's just how people grow from knowing me as a disabled person. They get more comfortable with being different. People see me getting all the help I need to do this but I can still do it. I didn't feel limited at all. My brain let me do amazing things. This moment has been made possible by Union Bank in partnership with KPBS.
