PIERRE HABIS: Hello, I'm Pierre Habis of Union Bank. Diversity is one of our most closely held values. This is why we're proud to honor Local Heroes in celebration of Women's History Month. Let's meet one of our honorees. DR DORIS HOWELL: I'm Dr. Doris Howell and I am a pediatric Hematologist and a founder of San Diego Hospice. Hospice is a philosophy of care. It's a way of looking at a patient as a human suffering and taking care not only of his disease, but of all the pain that goes with that. As Americans, we have been very reluctant to embrace dying. We have a very important niche to fill to meet the needs of the patient, meet the needs of the family, how they can get the best possible care for their loved ones and can expect the best possible care for themselves.
