Central Public Library Screening: 'Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman'

“A Titanic Beauty Spreads a Macabre Wave of Horror”

The San Diego Public Library will screen the film "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor auditorium of the Central Library, located at 820 E Street in downtown San Diego.

The film is the inaugural offering of the library’s monthly SchlockFest film screenings, an homage to the classic B movies from Hollywood’s Golden Age. This event is FREE to the public.

About the film:
Fueled by atomic-age paranoia and timeless human foibles, this film is a feminist revenge thriller with lasting appeal. One of the most beloved camp classics of the 1950s begins with a three-way recipe for genre disaster: a cheating husband married to an alcoholic heiress and a scheming mistress with a burning desire for her rival’s lavish inheritance. But before the greedy lovers can say "Super-Size Me," the insanely jealous wife gains a towering advantage—after exposure to alien radiation in the back deserts of California, she grows to a height of 50 feet—and proceeds to wreak havoc as a giant woman scorned. Despite cheap and sometimes cheesy special effects, the film has gained a loyal cult following over the decades.
