Life is full of surprises and you are sure to see this ironic concept come to life in the next Culinary Cinema Series film "Noodle." The film is a touching comic-drama in which two human beings, one from Tel Aviv and the other from Beijing, accompany each other on a remarkable journey towards a more meaningful life.

The evening begins with pre-film snacks, beer and wine at 6 p.m. on August 8th, 2011. After the film, guests will enjoy a variety of Israeli-inspired food in a casual cocktail-party setting.

Reservations are $39 or $29 for OMA members and include the film, entrance to five exhibitions, light pre-film snacks, delicious cuisine, desserts and all inclusive beer and wine. Call 760.435.3721 for reservations.

About the film:
"Noodle" (2007) is an award-winning Israeli film directed and co-written by Ayelet Menahemi. Mili Avital plays the elegant Miri Calderone, a flight attendant twice widowed by war. She finds herself caring for a young Chinese boy called “Noodle” whose mother has been deported from Israel. Her well-regulated existence is suddenly turned upside down by a boy who speaks no English and no Hebrew. Noodle won the Best Supporting Actress Award from the Israeli Film Academy (Ophir Awards), and a Special Grand Prize of the Jury from the 2007 Montreal World Film Festival. It has also won numerous awards at film festivals throughout the United States and around the world, and was an official nominee for numerous Israeli Film Academy Awards. The film is 90 minutes long with English subtitles.

Culinary Cinema Series:
OMA’s Culinary Cinema Series is a program that pairs artistic films that often relate to the museum’s exhibitions or that speak to larger concepts surrounding the art community. Guests will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere noshing heavy hors d’oeuvres at cocktail tables in the museum’s lobby. The Culinary Cinema Series is made possible by The James Irvine Foundation.

Location: OMA: 704 Pier View Way, Oceanside CA 92054. Google Map
