Oceanside Museum Of Art Presents 'Art After Dark'

The next OMA Art After Dark will thrill guests to their core. Experience dueling graffiti artists, D.E. Mad Doctor Crew vs. Aero Zombies, battling it out on the museum's terrace and view "Memento Mori: Remember Your Mortality," an exhibition specially curated to align with Art After Dark Death, on view October 15-30, 2011.

Costumed guests will enjoy the elegant boutique spirits of U4RIK Vodka as well as haunting brews from Lost Abbey and Latitude 33 craft beer with help from Tap That! There will also be a coffee bar sponsored by GanoCafe, a wine lounge featuring Schlossadler International Wines, and delicious cuisine from The Fish Joint and Tony Pepperoni Pizzeria.

Cutting edge DJ Noel will fill the museum with his artistic sounds while Aaron Benedict Sison, a student at CSU San Marcos, debuts the video piece he created for the event. M.C. Sacita Duffy will showcase an off-the-hook costume contest with fabulous prizes and Fred Astaire Dance Studio will amaze the crowd as they conduct a stylized version of 'Thriller' in a flash mob that will fill the Museum with over 50 zombie dancers!

To top it all off, OMA will unveil its first digital mapping art element, sponsored by Nelson Photo Supplies, where Center of Mass Creation will showcase an original projected animation on the façade of the building.

In the spirit of Halloween weekend, costumes are encouraged at Art After Dark Death, but not mandatory. Costume contest prizes include a case of U4RIK Vodka, $1,000 in dance lessons from Fred Astaire Dance Studio, tickets to Haunted Hotel events (San Diego) and a pair of tickets to all four 2012 OMA Art After Dark events.

About Art After Dark:
OMA currently holds four Art After Dark events a year, each inspired by a different theme that often relates to the museum’s exhibitions. The most recent event on June 17th 2011, a tribute to The Beatles, had an attendance of over 750 patrons. Art After Dark is designed to attract a lively young adult audience interested in broadening their understanding and appreciation of art. Charged with live music, art performances, creative stations, stunning thematic art and delectable food and beverages, guests enjoy an artistic sensory overload.

In addition, guests will also have the opportunity to view five art exhibitions during the Art After Dark event on Friday, October 28, 2011: "Memento Mori: Remember Your Mortality," "It’s Not My Fault: The Art of Everett Peck," "Transitions: Works by Francoise Gilot," "The Matter of Space: Cathy Breslaw" and "We Can Work it Out: Becky Guttin."
