Artists @ Work: Manuel Cisneros Pinstriping Demonstration - June 14, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Become mesmerized by the precise application of thin lines of paint in the pinstriping demonstration by Manuel Cisneros at the June 14 Artists@Work program.

Manuel Cisneros is a San Diego-based artist who specializes in pin-striping. Working not only on cars and motorcycles, Cisneros also creates paintings on canvas that allow him to expand on his complex line-based design using the classic 1 Shot lettering enamel.

Commonly used to decorate Lowrider cars and motorcycles pinstriping is a look at the custom car culture lifestyle reflected in OMA’s exhibition "Cruisin’ Califas: The Art of Lowriding."

Artists@Work is a creative happy hour that provides a rare opportunity for members and visitors to closely engage with artists and get a first-hand look at the creative process. While watching artworks come to life, guests will delight in delicious appetizers sponsored by Harney Sushi and Bull Taco and an open bar with wine and Lagunitas beer.

Tickets are $15 for OMA members or $20 for nonmembers. Visit www.oma-online.org or call (760) 435-3721 for reservations, or purchase tickets at the door the night of the event. OMA invites guests 21+ to attend.

About Artists@Work:
Oceanside Museum of Art is pleased to present its newest innovative night event, Artists@Work. On the second Thursday of most months OMA will showcase a different artist or artist collaborative by commissioning them to produce an original artwork live in front of guests during the newly-extended hours of 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Each month OMA will showcase a different artist with the aim of exploring all mediums of creation including: ceramics, painting, sculpture and more. During selected months Artists @ Work will showcase artists whose work is currently on view at the museum, giving guests an in-depth look some of OMA’s 2012 exhibitions. All OMA exhibitions will be open for viewing during these extended hours.

Future Artists @ Work will take place on the following dates: August 9, and September 13, 2012.

This program is made possible by the James Irvine Foundation. Opened in 1995, Oceanside Museum of Art educates and inspires through a unique range of diverse engaging exhibitions and programs that connect people with regional, national and global artists and art forms.

About OMA:
The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday 1 to 4 pm. Admission is $8, $5 for seniors and free for students and military. For more information call 760.435.3720 or visit www.oma-online.org.
