“For the Sender” a book, album and concert series that turns letters into songs, written by author and musician Alex Woodard, is hosting a benefit concert for the Switchfoot Bro-Am Foundation on Sunday, December 14 at Belly Up Tavern.

The night will make for a wonderful evening of well-known musicians such as Sara and Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek), Jordan Pundik (New Found Glory), Molly Jenson, Nena Anderson, Andy Powers and Woodard as they take the stage and sing songs from the “For The Sender” book and album.

The show will benefit the Bro-Am Foundation which provides grants to local beneficiary partners that support at-risk children facing adversity and hardship in their life.

“The concert is really special because it gives all of us the opportunity to share ‘For the Sender’ with the audience in an intimate setting, bringing all the stories to life with music,” said Woodard.

“The night of collaboration always delivers a unique show. Every ‘For the Sender’ performance is a different multimedia concert experience and we look forward to this particular show because it will have a holiday feel and feature so many of the ‘For the Sender’ family members.”

In the “For The Sender” series, Woodard illustrates his own journey through true stories, told in the letters he receives and songs he writes. Accompanying the two critically-acclaimed books (best-selling author Dr. Wayne Dyer has called Woodards “one of the greatest writers I’ve come across”) are albums inspired by the letters.

The collection of songs produced by Woodard and mixed by Grammy-winning engineer David Thoener, feature contributions from Jordan Pundik (New Found Glory), Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters and The Wallflowers), Jon Foreman (Switchfoot), Sean and Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek), Molly Jenson, and legendary songwriter Jack Tempchin (“Peaceful Easy Feeling” and other hits by the Eagles). Special guests will be announced closer to the show.

“The songs sung throughout the evening are about the extraordinary things that can happen in ordinary moments when love looks like an action, not a feeling,” said Woodard.

“The letters and songs from the album are a reminder that sometimes you need to stop dreaming to start living.”

Ticket Price: $18 advanced / $20 day of show / $32 reserved seating

Proceeds, and all donations made will go directly to the Bro-Am Foundation which provides grants for local programs such as StandUp For Kids, Oceanside, Encinitas Youth Scholarship Program and SIMA Humanitarian Fund.
