San Diego CityBeat, San Diego's boldest alternative weekly publication, announces "A Night at the Besties 2014," a celebration of the very Best of San Diego. A Night at the Besties will take place on Thursday, October 23rd, at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, located at 1875 El Prado, in Balboa Park (Google Map).

The event will feature live music from locals Little Hurricane and Steph Johnson band—both San Diego Music Award-winning artists. It will also mark the long-awaited return of Fern Street Circus, San Diego's theatrical and educational circus ensemble, which will be featured in processionals throughout the evening.

In addition, there will be an art exhibit featuring the debut of the Dream Machine Arts Collective, plus works by Dave Ghilarducci and a large-scale installation by Miki Iwasaki and his Woodbury University architecture students.

There will also be a mobile video arcade, provided by Coin Op North Park, and a full open bar, plus food sampling from more than 20 of San Diego's finest eateries, including Buona Forchetta, The Bean Bar, Gaglione Brothers Steaks & Sandwiches, the Patio on Lamont, the Patio on Goldfinch, Brabant, Carnitas’ Snack Shack, San Diego Taco Company, Caffe Calabria, Dirty Birds, Haritna Mediterranean Restaurant and more.

A portion of the proceeds from A Night at the Besties will benefit the San Diego Center for Children, whose mission is to promote the well being of youth, families and communities by providing an array of proven and effective mental-health and educational services.

A Night at the Besties is an annual event, produced by San Diego CityBeat in conjunction with the annual release of CityBeat’s Best of San Diego issue. The special issue, which will include the popular Readers Poll winners in more than 250 local categories, will be distributed on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at more than 1,400 locations in San Diego County.
