Poetry Performance By Zaria Suggs & Film

18-year-old poet and SDSU college freshman, Zaria Suggs will perform pieces of her thought provoking poetry before the film, "Freedom Writers."  Like the students in the film, Zaria has found that writing about her own personal experiences and struggles has empowered her to overcome the adversity in her life and to make a difference in the world around her.

The film is based on "The Freedom Writers Diary," the 1999 non-fiction book written by students at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California and their teacher Erin Gruwell. 2007. 123 minutes. (PG-13)
