Free Gospel Music Concert And Film

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Choir San Diego, directed by Ken Anderson, will present a free concert of Gospel Songs and Negro Spirituals, in the Central Library Auditorium at 6:00 p.m., followed by the film "Selma" at 6:45 p.m.

Director Ava Duvarney balances the intimate and the epic in her scorching snapshot of a movement and a man at the crossroads. The eyes of America turns nervously toward Selma, Alabama as the rousing orator and back-room strategist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. plans the landmark 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery for the voting rights of African Americans. Starring David Oyelowo, Carmen Ejogo, Oprah Winfrey, Tim Roth and Tom Wilkenson. 2014. 127 minutes. (PG-13).
