Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and a celebration of the Maker movement.

And in honor of the Balboa Park Centennial, Maker Faire San Diego will make its park debut for the fall celebration on Oct. 3 and 4.

Wondering what a Maker Faire is? Think of it as this generation's version of a World's Fair. It's a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. You'll see a variety of performances, participate in hands-on experiments, meet a few robots, shop from local artisans and maybe even get a ride in a car shaped like a cupcake.

The Balboa Park event will be Southern California's first full scale Maker Faire and will be hosted both outdoors and inside various museums.

The Maker movement began in the Bay Area 10 years ago and events have been sprouting up all over the country, including at the White House.

Dates and times of events are subject to change without notice. Always check the event organizer's website for the most updated schedule before attending. Check local COVID-19 restrictions and updates.
