Focusing on songs collected by folklorist and field recording pioneer Alan Lomax, this collaboratory brings together some of North America’s most distinctive and creative roots musicians to revive, recycle and reimagine traditional music. This performance features Jayme Stone (banjo, voice), Moira Smiley (voice, accordion), Sumaia Jackson (fiddle, voice) and Joe Phillips (bass, voice).

The repertoire includes Bahamian sea chants, African-American a cappella singing from the Georgia Sea Islands, ancient Appalachian ballads, fiddle tunes, and work songs collected from both well-known musicians and everyday folk: sea captains, cowhands, fishermen, prisoners and homemakers.

The Lomax Project will also be presenting a youth workshop at 2 p.m. that afternoon.

Dates and times of events are subject to change without notice. Always check the event organizer's website for the most updated schedule before attending.
