"The Big Sleep" (1946)
Directed by Howard Hawks

Offsite, Botanical Lawn east of the Museum
Monday, 7:45 p.m.
Film noir, with its dark imagery and emotional state, owes much of its origin to the influence of the German Expressionist movement. In this classic of the genre, adapted from the Raymond Chandler novel, Humphery Bogart plays private detective Phillip Marlowe as he follows a blackmail investigation into a tangled web of murder, gambling and seduction.

This summer sit under the stars and enjoy a screening of the 1946 film nor "The Big Sleep" (not rated) directed by Howard Hawks.
