Writers To Watch (W2W) - Matt Coyle

Matt Coyle will be speaking on the topic, "My Road To Publication (or How To Get Published in Ten Short Years)," at the San Diego Central Library on Nov. 6, 2016. The talk will take place from 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the Mary Hollis Clark Room.

Matt Coyle grew up in Southern California battling his Irish/Portuguese siblings for respect and the best spot on the couch in front of the TV. He knew he wanted to be a crime writer as a child when his father gave him "The Simple Art Of Murder" by Raymond Chandler.

It took him a few decades but he finally got there. His debut novel, "Yesterday’s Echo," won the Anthony Award for Best First Novel, the San Diego Book Award for Best Mystery and the Ben Franklin Silver Award for Best New Voice in Fiction. The second book in the Rick Cahill Crime Series, "Night Tremors," was named a top pick for 2015 by, and was a Lefty, Shamus and Anthony Award Finalist.

The third, "Dark Fissures," will be out in December 2016. Matt lives in San Diego with his Yellow Labrador, Angus, where he is working on the fourth Rick Cahill crime novel.
