Join composer Cheryl E. Leonard for an ear-opening hour of fun with natural-object musical instruments. First Cheryl will give a brief demonstration of her one-of a-kind musical sculptures made from bones, rocks, shells, sticks and seaweed. Then, build a thumb piano using driftwood, feathers, and dried kelp. Once our thumb pianos are complete we’ll explore different ways of making sounds with them, and then finish up by all playing together in a conducted group improvisation.

This workshop is designed for children ages 7+ accompanied by an adult and is presented in partnership with the La Jolla Historical Society and their exhibition "Weather on Steroids: the Art of Climate Change."

Dates and times of events are subject to change without notice. Always check the event organizer's website for the most updated schedule before attending.
