The San Diego Festival Chorus performs Handel’s "Messiah."

Handel wrote this music (all three parts) in just 24 days in 1742. In its intricate Baroque style, it was written for a small vocal and instrumental ensemble. Now, large choruses and orchestras perform the “Messiah”. It is one of the best known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music. Our Chorus is proud to perform the "Messiah" with our 90-voice, 48-piece orchestra and local professional soloists.

Next, the “Twelve Days of Christmas” is presented with a whimsical arrangement using a different musical era for each day. It starts with a Gregorian chant-style on the First Day and ends up with a John Phillips Sousa-like 12th Day. Then our Christmas classics begin with nostalgic songs starting with Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas”, all familiar music from movies, plays and television. Finally, we do a swing version of traditional Christmas music, beginning with the carol, “Joy to the World” and ending with the spiritual, “Go Tell it on the Mountain”.

Come join us in a big, beautiful venue with great acoustics.
