You may recall the popular “This is Your Brain on Drugs” commercial, but how does excessive nicotine and alcohol intake really affect your cognitive systems?

This month’s Suds & Science explores this topic with Dr. Olivier George, Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the Scripps Research Institute. Dr. George’s work seeks to unveil the neurobiological mechanisms underlying the transition to drug addiction and to develop novel pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments to reduce compulsive drug seeking and taking. As binge drinking and the opioid crises are rising to alarming levels, this research can help inform addiction treatment.

Join us for Suds & Science on April 9 as we discuss these treatments with Dr. George, and discuss how his research could change lives.

Cost: $5
