'Black Panther' Film Screening

Screening to highlight the Mission Valley and North University Community branch's "Rising Up: Afrofuturism in Black Panther" discussion about the "Black Panther" graphic novels and movie.

Film synopsis: T'Challa, heir to the hidden but advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must step forward to lead his people into a new future and must confront a challenger from his country's past.

This event is part of San Diego Public Library's programming for this year's One Book, One San Diego where we will explore themes of civil rights, social justice, and discrimination.

The 2018 One Book, One San Diego selections are "March: Book One," by Congressman John Lewis, Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell and "Blue Sky, White Stars," by Sarvinder Naberhaus and illustrated by Kadir Nelson.
