Jazz At The Athenaeum: Ralph Moore Quartet

The winter Athenaeum Jazz series opens on Friday, February 9, with the Ralph Moore Quartet, featuring Moore on tenor saxophone, Eric Reed on piano, Mike Gurrola on bass, and Willie Jones III on drums.

One of the leading saxophonists to emerge in the 1980s, Ralph Moore has had a career that includes associations with artists such as Horace Silver, Roy Haynes, Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, and J.J. Johnson.

Active as a member of The Tonight Show Band from 1995 to 2010, his first Athenaeum performance dates to 1997 as a member of pianist Cedar Walton’s Eastern Rebellion quartet with Billy Higgins.

He is joined for this performance by stellar pianist Reed, a former member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, praised by JazzTimes for “his expansive jazz vocabulary and wide-ranging sensibilities...sophistication, maturity, and deep swing.”

Tickets can be purchased for the entire winter 2018 jazz series or for individual concerts.

Series of 4 Concerts: $76 member / $96 nonmember
