Pacific Lyric Association's 'Tosca'

Pacific Lyric Association presents "Tosca," Puccini's fast-moving operatic thriller.

"Tosca" tells the passionate-yet-tragic tale of a celebrated diva. When her idealistic lover gets tangled up in political troubles and is pursued by the corrupt chief of police, Floria, Tosca prepares to do whatever it takes to save her beloved.

This tragic romance ranks among the most popular operas of all time, and features one of the most beautiful arias in the operatic repertoire, "E lucevan le stelle," sung by the doomed Cavaradossi as he awaits execution.

With its themes of political intrigue, sexual intimidation and hypocrisy in high places, Puccini's great masterpiece rings true today through its powerfully dramatic music.
