Panel Discussion On Comic Books

To coincide with the 2018 One Book, One San Diego selection of "March: Book One" — an award-winning graphic memoir about the Civil Rights Movement by U. S. Representative John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell — the Oceanside Library will present a panel discussion about the exciting and diverse medium of comic books.

The panelists, all hailing from the San Diego area, will include Jackie Estrada (administrator of the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards), Mary Fleener ("Life of the Party," "Billie the Bee"), Batton Lash ("Supernatural Law"), and M. K. Palmer ("Meraki").

In addition to the panelists discussing their own work in the field, the conversation will address the significance of comics as a form of literary/artistic, social, and personal expression.

Moderating the discussion will be Palomar College English professor Dr. Rocco Versaci ("This Book Contains Graphic Language: Comics as Literature," "That Hidden Road: A Memoir").

Everyone from the seasoned comic book reader to the newcomer will find something of interest here!
