Bloomsday 2019: Stage Reading Of "The Dead"

San Diego Central Library joins the international Bloomsday celebrations of James Joyce and his great novel “Ulysses” with a stage reading performance of his novella "The Dead", written in the 1900s at the heights of Irish nationalism against British domination. Hailed as one of the greatest short stories ever written, “The Dead” raises questions about Irish identity while dealing with themes of disappointed love and frustrated personal and career expectations.

Bloomsday is observed annually on June 16th when Joyce fans around the world open a book, raise a pint, and relive the events in “Ulysses” which take place on June 16, 1904.

Dates and times of events are subject to change without notice. Always check the event organizer's website for the most updated schedule before attending.
