Balboa Park Halloween Family Day

Enjoy a culturally inspired kickoff to Halloween at the region’s largest free Halloween carnival on Saturday, October 26 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Over two dozen participating museums and cultural attractions present free crafts for kids, costume contests, Day of the Dead-themed activities, face painting, and tons of spooky surprises.

Live dance performances, a “Thriller” flash mob, food trucks, and free candy round out the spooktacular day set amid Balboa Park’s historic architecture and scenic plazas.

Participating museums offer free admission to children 12 and under with paying adult.

First, second, and third place prizes awarded for best costume.
11:30 a.m. - 3 years and under
Noon - 4–7 years
12:30 p.m. - 8–11 years
1 p.m. - 12–14 years
1:30 p.m. - Homemade category – all ages

Noon -12:40 p.m. - San Diego Civic Dance Arts: “Thriller” Flash Mob Dance

1 –1:20 p.m. and 1:45–2:05 p.m. - La Fiesta Danzantes de San Diego: Dia de los Muertos-themed dance performances

2:15–2:45 p.m. and 3-3:30 p.m. - Creative Dancers 78: Hip hop, Latin rhythm, and contemporary dance performances by an energetic group of youth dancers
