San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum is proud to announce the return of KPBS Kids Workshops for 2020! Join Curious George, Daniel Tiger, Nature Cat, and other special guests as we explore the world around us through science, math, and literacy.

The series consists of special storytimes, a visit by a costume character and/or interactive presentation, and a hands-on workshop that connects to a KPBS Kids program educational theme starting at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Events last approximately 30-45 minutes.

These programs are designed for children ages 3 and up.

Price of KPBS Kids events are included in Museum admission. Hands-on workshop seating is first come, first served. Arrive early to secure your spot.

Costume characters are selected for specific workshops given availability.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE: JAN. 11 - OCT. 17, 2020

January 11 & 12 - "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" Educational Theme: Social Emotional Development: It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood to once again visit Daniel Tiger! Get ready to sing, dance and practice your social skills through special interactive workshops at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.! Registration is required.

Saturday, February 22 - World Thinking Day Theme: People and Cultures: Join KPBS, San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, and the Girl Scouts of San Diego for an exciting event exploring Leadership through performances and activities throughout the Museum, plus a visit from Word Girl. Free admission with registration for kids under 18 and regular admission price for adults. Event times are 10 a.m – 1 p.m.

Saturday, March 2 - Hats Off to Reading Day Educational Theme: Literacy: Join us on Dr. Seuss’ birthday to celebrate Hats Off to Reading Day on Saturday, March 2. This special day includes a special storytime, a visit from Super Why, book giveaways, and special activities throughout the Museum. The event runs from 10 a.m. – Noon.

CANCELED: Saturday, April 11 - "Curious George" Educational Theme: Garden: Join Curious George and The Man With The Yellow Hat as they explore where our food comes from. Practice your green thumb during our 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. special storytimes and hands-on workshops.

UPDATED: Thursday, May 7 at 2 p.m.- "The Cat in the Hat" Educational Theme: Arts & Crafts: Explore your creative side with Cat in the Hat! Get ready to paint and use your imagination with art activities and a special storytime. https://www.facebook.com/sdcdm

CANCELED: Saturday, June 6 - "Nature Cat" Educational Theme: Garden: It's time for outdoor adventure with Nature Cat! We'll explore the natural world with craft activities and a special storytime.

Saturday, September 12 - "Dino Train" Educational Theme: Science: Let’s take a trip back in time. Join us at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. for hands-on workshops to learn more about the age of the dinosaurs and the amazing creatures who lived with them!

Saturday, October 17 - "Peg + Cat" Educational Theme: Social Emotional Development: Come visit Peg + Cat and become a problem solver using team work and math. Join us at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. for a special storytime, costume character meet and greet, unique art activity, as well as a special hands-on workshop.

This project is a partnership between KPBS and the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, made possible with funding from the Linden Root Dickinson Foundation.
