Join assistant curator Alana Hernandez and artist Nicola López for a conversation on Instagram Live as part of the charlas series. The Charlas present conversations between exhibition curator Hernandez and contemporary artists where they will discuss their practice in relation to the works presented in the digital exhibition "Experiments on Stone: Four Women Artists from the Tamarind Lithography Workshop."

Nicola López’s work in drawing, printmaking, site-specific installation, sculpture, and video examines and reconfigures our human-built landscape. It engages architecture and urban structure as ever-accumulating evidence of our human aspirations and failures. Drawing on anthropology, architecture, urban planning, and historical and fictional explorations of utopia/dystopia, the work points to deep connections and rifts between our human-constructed world and systems and cycles of nature as we plunge into global, environmental crisis. López’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States and internationally, including at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Guggenheim Museum, New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Museo Rufino Tamayo, Mexico City; Nevada Museum of Art, Reno; Albuquerque Museum, New Mexico; and the Inside-Out Museum, Beijing, among others. She currently teaches at Columbia University, New York and currently splits her time between Santa Fe, New Mexico and Brooklyn, New York.
