Join us for this exciting kick-off event and orientation to the KPBS Explore Program where you will be given the tools and knowledge to submit a great idea for a podcast, documentary, TV series or web series.

The KPBS Explore Local Content Project is a collaboration with local producers to grow the quality and quantity of uniquely local content. We are exploring new program ideas that make us think, help us dream, and keep us connected.

The KPBS Explore Orientation will consist of an overview of the KPBS Explore Local Content Project, a presentation by New Media Rights on fair use and copyright law, and an opportunity to pitch your project ideas and get direct feedback from the KPBS Explore team.

Orientation Date: Monday, August 2 from 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Part 1: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

‘KPBS Explore Orientation’

The Orientation phase will ensure potential producers are aware of all they are expected to know when submitting a proposal to the Explore Program prior to its deadline. Participants will learn how to create a project that aligns with KPBS mission & Core Values. They will gain a clear path for participation (paperwork, deadlines, ideas, etc.).

Part 2: 7:40 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

'Copyright and Fair Use'

Guest speakers from New Media Rights will be there to give you information on fair use and copyright laws.

Part 3: 8:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

KPBS Explore Idea Pitches

Participants will be given a chance to informally pitch ideas and get direct feedback, with no official commitment made by either party.
