Women make up about half of those who migrate internationally and within their own countries. Some are pulled by the promise of a better future, but for those who face famine or danger in their home countries, migration is a gamble for their very survival.

National Geographic recently teamed with photographers with The Everyday Projects—a global network with a mission to challenge stereotypes by presenting diverse perspectives—to explore how hardship and obligation, violence, poverty, climate change, and other forces undermine women's lives, spurring them to make life-changing journeys.

In this webinar, we will hear from two of the eight photojournalists whose stories were featured in "Women on the Move" and how they documented those journeys to share with the world. We'll also briefly explore the other featured stories and how Villasana and Chandradas worked in collaboration with these six photographers on this group documentary project.

This conversation is part of a series, Stories of Migration and Immigration, being jointly sponsored by the School of Journalism and Media Studies and the Pulitzer Center.
