The Hill Street Country Club presents "The Re-Use Project", a visual art exhibition utilizing recycled materials as a representation of what single-use plastics are doing to the planet, and our impact as humans through art!

Starting August 1st, the HSCC will be filled with the art works of CSUSM Staircase artists and Environmental Studies students. They will be showcasing their prior artistic works made from recycled materials, all found on CSUSM campus, as well as displaying their new works in order to raise awareness on the ongoing pollution issue and becoming a more sustainable society.

The Re-Use Project will be on display from August 1st - September 20th, and tours will be provided by appointment only. You can sign up for a time slot here.

Your health, and the health of our staff and artists are at the utmost importance to us. We will be practicing strict social distancing guidelines in order to ensure that everyone is able to safely enjoy the art while staying protected. Only 5 guests will be allowed in the gallery at a time for 10-15 minute increments in order to safely observe the art works. Masks will be required. Docents will be available to provide tours if requested! Drinks and refreshments will also be provided!

Some of the artwork can be viewed and purchased online here.

In addition to the exhibition, The Re-Use Project artists will also be hosting a series of Zoom panel discussions featuring: Dr. Jennifer Brandon (Senior scientist of Applied Ocean Sciences at UCSD), Janis Jones (local artist and Ocean Conservancy CEO), Estafania Fraticelli (CSUSM environmental studies alumni), Megan Hammerschmidt & Lindsey Cain (‘Only Losers Litter’ from from Vista), Environmental Stewards Association (CSUSM) and the Surfrider Foundation.

Panel topics are:
- Science & Plastic: Saturday August 15, 12 - 1 p.m.
- Environmental Racism: Saturday August 29, 12 - 1 p.m.
- The Effects of Single Use Plastics & Ways To Help Locally: Saturday September 12, 12 - 1 p.m.
