Environmentalists say they're suing the California Fish and Game Commission because the agency is violating the nation's endangered species law. The agency's critics say the commission refuses to ban lead in hunting bullets and that's threatening some of the state's most majestic birds. Center for Biological Diversity spokesman Jeff Miller says the lawsuit is designed for force the panel to restrict the use of the dangerous bullets.
Miller: Lead ammunition is poisoning endangered California Condors and also bald and golden eagles that feed on carcasses that are contaminated with lead ammunition.
Miller say cooper coated bullets are currently available. He says the Fish and Game Commission considered a measure limiting the use of lead bullets in 2005, but it was voted down.
