San Diegans Leave Their Diets At The Gates Of The County Fair

San Diegans Leave Their Diets At The Gates Of The County Fair
The 2011 San Diego County Fair wraps up today. It's got rides, exhibits, and enough fried food to delight even Elvis.

Today is the final day of this year's San Diego County Fair. The fair has the usual assortment of tasty treats, plus some new ones.

Who ever said there nothing new in American cuisine, hasn't been to the San Diego Fair.

This year, the new items include deep fried Girl Scout Cookies, corn dogs dipped in chocolate, and fried jalapenos stuffed with Baby Ruth bars.

But the concoction everyone is talking about is deep fried Kool-Aid. You get five pieces of it for $5.95. Talk about a deal! And what about the taste?

"It just tastes like a moderately fruity piece of dough," said fairgoer Katie Chappell, disappointingly.

Oh well.

There are always the old Fair favorites like deep fried Twinkies, deep fried avocados, and deep fried butter.

Pass the Pepto Bismol.
