More than 1,300 short-term parking spaces are now available in the Terminal 2 parking lot at Lindbergh Field. The newly-opened lot adds 600 new short-term parking spots at the airport.

The parking lot closed two years ago as part of the airport's Terminal 2 expansion project and was partially reopened in July 2012, offering 700 spots.

San Diego County Regional Airport Authority president Thella Bowens said despite limited parking during the project, passengers have been accommodating.

"The public has been very, very good about understanding the need to expand the facility and tolerating the inconvenience of the parking," Bowens said.

Within the past two months, an expanded security checkpoint and six new passenger gates inside Terminal 2 opened. The project is expected to be complete and open in August.
