If you can't keep up with all the new restaurants that opened in San Diego this year, help is on the way.

San Diego Magazine's December issue is out with food critic Troy Johnson's highly anticipated list of San Diego's Top 10 Best New Restaurants of 2014.

Johnson, who is also the host of "Crave" on the Food Network, included restaurants such as Juniper and Ivy, Bottega Americano, and Croce's Park West on his list.

Johnson said restaurants can win customers by investing in its decor.

"It’s so personal," Johnson said. "You don’t have to spend a million dollars on it. [Customers]need to be immediately transported. When you walk into that restaurant, it needs to be an essence of a movie."

Johnson predicts that "food trends" such as the "casual health food movement" will continue in 2015. More gourmet restaurants will also cater to families, he said.

Among the eateries making waves in San Diego's food scene are City Tacos, a so-called "craft taqueria" in North Park, and Land and Water Company, located in Carlsbad’s iconic Queen Anne home from the 1880s, serving up sustainable seafood.
