SDCashStash Hides Money In East County

The anonymous donor SDCashStash is back at it, hiding money Monday near a Walmart in Santee and vowing to hide money in North County on Tuesday.

SDCashStash, who has gained nearly 10,000 Twitter followers since May 27 and more than 2,000 likes on Facebook, has given away several hundred dollars to complete strangers in hopes they will "pay it forward." Earlier Monday, SDCashStash tweeted a wish that the person who found the money "buy lunch for any (police officer, fireman) or military you see."

"I am not a millionaire but thought I can spare enough to make someone's day with some random acts of kindness," the San Diegan told KPBS.

Monday's clue of a picture of a Walmart with the number "170" on its side was followed up 24 minutes later with a tweet stating: "Found. Congrats! Tomorrow north county." Previous drops have been in Mission Bay and the Mission Hills/Hillcrest area.

The trend started in San Francisco and has spread to other parts of the state and the nation, including Washington, D.C., New Orleans and Dallas.
