Memorial Day discount

Many nationwide restaurant and retail chains are honoring the military this Memorial Day by offering discounts - and in some cases freebies - to active duty service members and veterans.

If you're hungry, you can head over to Hooters (for the food, of course). The restaurant chain is offering 10 free chicken wings to all active duty troops and veterans with the purchase of a beverage. This is the first time Hooters is including military spouses in the discount, according to Hooters VP of marketing, Andrew Pudduck:

“Military spouses have to make some of the toughest sacrifices in the world, especially when their loved ones are away on active duty. Expanding our military Memorial Day deal to include spouses is a small display of Hooters’ steadfast commitment to supporting the scores of courageous families within the armed forces.”

All veterans and active duty military members are eligible for a free "All-American Burger™" at Shoney's restaurants.

Boston Market is offering a 10 percent discount for diners with proof of military service.

If you feel like working off some of those calories from your Memorial Day feasts with home improvement projects, both Home Depot and Lowe's have a 10 percent discount for active duty military, veterans, and their families on Memorial Day. It should be noted that EVERY DAY of the year, active duty military and their families get a discount at both Home Depot and Lowe's.
