National Security Group Launches San Diego Chapter

Truman Project Launches San Diego Chapter

A progressive national security organization on Monday launched a new chapter in San Diego.

The Truman National Security Project was welcomed by a network of veterans, civilians and policy makers aboard the USS Midway. The organization is dedicated to addressing the security challenges facing the region and world.

"One of the things we're really proud of at Truman is providing a channel for returning veterans coming back from the battlefield, to step forward into public service in a whole host of ways, as business leaders, political leaders, civic leaders, and San Diego is a real example of a place that does that," said the organization's executive director Michael Breen.

Named after the 33rd president of the United States, the San Diego chapter will also work to mentor and train the next generation of leaders who can effectively speak about issues of national security, said the organization.

To help secure its success, three San Diegans were named to the Truman board of directors, including Marine veteran and former state representative, Nathan Fletcher.
