San Diego Gas Prices Keep Climbing Higher

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose today to its highest amount since Sept. 24, increasing 5.8 cents to $3.727.

The average price has risen for 16 consecutive days, increasing 61.8 cents, including 9.1 cents on Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 38.4 cents more than one week ago and 51.8 cents higher than one month ago, but 55.2 cents less than one year ago.

The increasing prices stem from three oil companies buying spot market gasoline in Southern California because of refinery shortfalls, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager, citing information from Platts, an energy information provider.
