The unemployment rate in San Diego County held steady at 4.7 percent for the fourth month in a row in March, California's Employment Development Department announced Friday.
That compares to a rate of 5.4 percent in March 2015.
San Diego's figure compares to a 5.6 percent statewide unemployment rate and 5.1 percent U.S. rate, the agency said. Neither is seasonally adjusted.
According to the agency, the unemployment rate in San Diego has held at 4.7 percent since December. It was 4.8 percent in November.
Between February and March, hotel and food services gained 2,300 workers while local government added about 1,900 employees, primarily in education, the data showed.
Over the past year, the biggest gains have been in health care and social assistance, which added around 6,600 positions. Administrative and support services gained around 4,500 jobs, according to the agency.
In March, 73,800 San Diego County residents were without jobs out of a civilian labor force of 1.6 million people, the agency said.
