Members of the public are invited to a San Diego City Council meeting Monday night to weigh in on the proposed budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
The 6 p.m. meeting at City Hall is designed for people who can't make it to daytime hearings on the $3.3 billion spending plan.
The council recently held a series of meetings in which they combed through the budget of each department.
While most of the proposal is not controversial, some concern has been expressed by city officials about a lack of plans to address a continuing shortage of sworn officers in the San Diego Police Department. Also, a group of older residents in Bay Terraces is pushing for funding to build a senior center in their neighborhood.
Mayor Kevin Faulconer is scheduled to issue revisions to his spending plan Tuesday, and those will be taken up by the council at a special meeting on Thursday.
