Bestselling Author Jennifer Weiner In San Diego To Talk About Her Memoir 'Hungry Heart'

GUEST:

Jennifer Weiner, author, "Hungry Heart"

Transcript

New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Weiner is known for her novels, including "Good in Bed" and "In Her Shoes," but now she's trying her hand at nonfiction.

Weiner recently released her memoir "Hungry Heart," a book of personal essays about topics including her lonely teen years, her mother's late-in-life lesbianism, and her father's death from drug overdose.

"What I believe is that there is power and there is comfort when women tell the truth about their lives," Weiner said. "I wanted to leave those stories there for other girls and other women so if they went through something like that or even just anything hard they would know I'd been through it too and that probably a lot of women have been through it too."

Weiner is speaking Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center. Her talk is kicking of this year's San Diego Jewish Book Fair.
